Do you know Trottenstrassen in Winterthur?
It is soooo steep. I need to climb this “city mountain” twice a day… with a bike… and a trailer… with a total of 28 kilo of humans in side (my two kids)… in (at the moment) 28+ degrees.
Whenever I (finally) get to the top, I stop, fill up my lungs completely, and then exhale with an “phwwww” out through my mouth to cope with the physical stress I’ve endured and to fully arrive at the top.
No matter if you a familiar with Trottenstrasse or not, you are probably familiar with these kinds of “everyday life mountains” which requires a deep inhale and an open exhale.
For the sake of it (and because we can never have too many deep breaths in a day) lets try to take such a breath together:
INHALE deeply – all the way down to the point below your bellybutton. Feel how even the sides and the backside of your ribscage filles up with breath.
Close your eyes. And then release.
EXHALE – sofly open your mounth. Let it all go(both the breath and EVERYTHING else you need to let go of).
How did that feel?
My answer: Pretty damn awesome. And like something I really needed.
BREATHE AND CENTER
Your “everyday mountain” can be anything from stress with the kids, overload of tasks at work/studies, a constant chit chat in your head, … anything. And no matter what your “Trottenstrasse” is, remember to have these deep, releasing, centering breaths before, during and after “climbing”it. It will keep you present, calmer, centered and help you de-stress.
THIS TEXT BLEW MY MIND THIS WEEK
This week I have been reading a WONDERFUL text by Donna Faulds for the people who have taken part in my classes.
I remenbered this text the last time I climbed Trottenstrasse. This text calms me, like a deep breath and make me feel like I am able to do and be my most optimal self.
I want to share it with you here.
Enjoy reading and breathing.
LOVE and Oxygen from me to YOU
Just for Now, Without asking how, let yourself sink into stillness.
Just for now, lay down the weight You so patiently bear upon your shoulders.
Feel the earth receive you, And the infinite expanse of the sky grow even wider, as your awareness reaches up to meet it.
Just for now, Allow a wave of breath to enliven your experience. Breathe out whatever blocks you from the truth.
Just for now, Be boundless, free, with awakened energy tingling in your hands and feet.
Drink in the possibility of being who and what you really are – So fully alive that the world looks different, Newly born and vibrant, just for now.
